Symptoms of Gum Disease

In this video, Dr. Jared Shatkin discusses how we diagnose and treat gum disease, focusing on restoring healthy gums to protect your teeth and prevent further issues.

Symptoms of gum disease include bone loss, gum inflammation, and loose teeth. To diagnose periodontal issues, we use a probing technique to measure the depth of the gum tissue around your teeth. Imagine wearing a long-sleeve shirt with a cuff—when the cuff stretches, it creates space. Similarly, when your gums become inflamed, they loosen, allowing bacteria and plaque to accumulate inside. Our goal is to restore the gums to a snug fit around your teeth, providing protection against harmful bacteria and preventing further progression of gum disease.
